In response to the plight of captives around the world, Congress has recognized January 11 as National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.
This month, we encourage all our SIS friends to take steps to spread the word about the dangers of trafficking and offer positive solutions. Will you join us as we spread the word to help prevent, rescue, and restore women and girls from suffering abuse and exploitation in some of the least-reached, highest-risk places around the world?
Here are a few ideas for how to spread the word and set captives free this year:
- Video: We have created a short video portraying the life path of an at-risk girl named “Purna.” You can post it on your facebook page, send it to your church leaders, or email it as a resource to your contacts on National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Here’s the link: She Is Safe Video
- Speakers: She Is Safe provides workshops from the trenches on Human Trafficking year-round. Please contact us at info@SheIsSafe.org to learn more or to schedule a field expert to speak with your church, Sunday school class, or home group.
- Books: We offer several books to empower churches and individuals to address exploitation in the world’s hardest places. Michele Rickett’s most recent book, Forgotten Girls (InterVarsity Press), has been recognized as one of the “Top 10 must-read books on Faith and Justice” by World Vision. We can make sure that you get a discount. To learn more about our books or order copies, you can visit She Is Safe Books.
- Initiatives: We have created easy ways for everyone to get involved, including children, runners, men, women and small groups. To learn more about Read to Rescue, Run to Rescue, and Village Gatherings, please e-mail us at info@SheIsSafe.org.
Please take a moment to browse our Engage Page to see how we can work together to set more captives free in 2012. If you would like to discuss ideas, learn more, or explore a deeper partnership, please contact us. You can find our information at the bottom of this page or on our Contact Page.
